I decided to stop using JKEris and start a new background story. The only part I've done so far is the metal buckles and chain mail back support.

I added armor to the back. I narrowed it down to 2 options: Option 1: Option 2:

I personally like Option 1, but that may change if something else comes to mind. Here's the start of the upper torso armor.

New update! I modified the chain mail back support and worked on the upper torso armor some more. The straps are kind of meh, mostly because of the UV mapping on the model.

Scales are sewn in top to bottom, not bottom to top. They dont match your color scheme or futuristic other pieces.

In Eris' defense, there's no real theme for it to clash with because he's only skinned the armor, you have to ignore the arms and legs and such really. Though I will say it does stand out a lot, and in game with the lighting, it's going to be horribly bright. You may at least want to darken it up a bit even before you start shading it for contour. Oh, Bun is right about one thing, though. Chain maille does follow the same principle as using scales, so it is upside down. The loops should hang downward. What you've done here defies gravity. lol

I'm only referring to the plastisteel plating he has done custom. But yeah, too bright, and black with yellow gets tricky. I honestly really liked what you had done so far for the waist prior to the scales. Except the back, rectangles are boring next to more rectangles. The cords seemed really cool though. When i talk about detail, im referring to the fact that your plates are too flat, theres no sense of surface texture to give them dimension. It would be a good time to learn how to simulate scratches and abnormalities to give depth. Also, I realize that you are attempting to tackle this piece by piece, but I'd rather see you do the rough of the full torso first, then start filling in with patterns. The organizational method you are starting can very easily lead to a lot of clashing and non uniform pieces that might look great taken alone, but don't lend to a unified armor at all. I realize i'm sort of telling you to do two fully separate steps at once here. IMO, you should prioritize creating a rough for the torse first, and picking a unified theme. After that you can work on armor detailing. /end ramble

I'm not worried about colors yet really. I just thought it'd be cool to use gold Dragonscale chain mail. But I did notice that it stood out too much. The way I'm skinning is doing all the armor first so that all the armor pieces are consistent. I got an idea from Bunny's mentioning of how my skin was. I could probably see if I can make it look layered in a similar manner, then add some shading. I'm still thinking about what else to put on the back instead of the rectangles, I chose those because it fit the best. As far as metal texture, this is what I made for use on the armor. I'll be trying to add scratches/chips and possibly blaster marks later.

Hmmm, I think it's a poor compromise. I don't much care for it. Looks like some kinda weird biker triple belt girdle thing made out of chain links. o.0

^what he said. I would suggest using scales on the armored pads, and sticking to the horizontal waist pieces you had before, they were cool.
